ˈsīəns/

noun

  1. the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

Science helps us understand the world around us.

Science began with the Ancient Greeks Hippocrates and Aristotle, who were not really scientists but Philosophers. Philosophy is the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct. This idea of philosophy is the first time in history we see people looking at the world and questioning the way it works like scientists.
